Thanks to the advent of High Definition TV, make up artists the world over are facing a rather troublesome conundrum. Whereas before the facial imperfections of actors could be hidden with some artful lighting and skilled make up application, HD is so powerful that it picks up every minuscule flaw and highlights it.
So the big make up companies are stepping up to the plate with a whole new range of make up that is suitable for the HD world – make up that will help minimize and in most cases elimate distracting flaws.
Now you may be thinking, what does this have to do with me? I’m not on camera! But you would be wrong – the new make up is great for everyone. Chock-full of light-reflecting pigments, the new stuff will make even the most terrible skin look airbrushed. Obviously the results will be different from person to person, but invest in a good brush to apply the foundation (Giorgio Armani does a spectacular one) and you’re good to go!
Here is a selection of make up that is HD friendly and YOU friendly:
Chanel Lift Lumiere
“Is it a stroke of genius…or a stroke of magic? A little of both, Yves Saint Laurent ‘Touche Éclat’ Radiant Touch is the best highlighter/concealer I have ever used. For this fair-skinned, contact-wearing woman with dark undereye circles, it is a MUST. I actually look forward to getting ready for work now, knowing I will soon be applying my shade, #1 Luminous Radiance. Most highlighters go on smoothly, but don’t cover. Most concealers cover dark circles, but go on thick and settle in tiny creases I didn’t even know I had. This creamy luminous formula is the perfect hue, and it glides on and melts into my skin. I look younger. And rested. And fabulous. Any product that can take on and win this beauty triple crown is something I never want to be without.”
Bonjour, ladies and gentlemen!
Summer, or Super Wrinkle season as I like to call it, is upon us. This means scores of ignorant women will be exposing their tender skins to the harshness of the sun and the tanning salon in a desperate attempt to look good this weekend at the beach – never mind what they will look in bed in ten years time.
Once upon a time, women were afraid of hitting their forties and finding themselves with faces more lined than a walnut. Now however, girls as young as eighteen are sporting the kind of wrinkles my own grandmother would be ashamed of. Read More

Good Lord, this lipstick is almost too unbelievably gorgeous.
Another superstar from MAC’s fabulous Fafi collection, this sold out, limited edition lipstick is a stunning “Coral rose with rainbow pearl”, according to MAC.
What that lovely description means is that Strawbaby is a beautifully rosy lipstick, with the MAC lustre texture giving it a wonderfully moist (but not sticky or shiny!) look. The lipstick is versatile enough to be worn during both the day and the night, and it has very good staying power too.
Classy, sexy and come hither all in one, Strawbaby is one lipstick you need this season!
It’s no surprise that this gorgeous limited-edition blush is sold out everywhere – it’s one of the nicest spring time blushes available right now.

Absolutely indispensable for the summer months!
This lovely little mascara is the Prescriptives False Eyelashes Plush, a great addition to the false-eyeslash-effect mascaras available .
What makes this particular mascara so wonderful is the brush – it’s tapered at the end so no matter how many layers of mascara you apply, it’s easy to separate any clumpy lashes.
Great staying power and look make this a must-have from Prescriptives!
For those who are mourning the gradual loss of their summer tan, the Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel is perfect – it works so fast you can dress right after without waiting around for it to dry, and it gives you a lovely warm skintone without putting you at risk from the sun’s harmful rays.
Let’s hear it for safe year-round tanning!
This gorgeous body butter from Sephora is chock-full of shea butter and beeswax, perfect for locking in moisture without over-scenting.
This wonderful primer is the Dr Feelgood from Benefit – a wonderfully rich “complexion balm” perfect for wear under foundation – or with nothing at all!
